durango choral society

Greetings From Amelia Barrett, Artistic Director/Conductor

Amy Barrett

I am so pleased to be celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Durango Choral Society this year! It is an honor to be among such talented and dedicated musicians, including our sweet and vibrant youth singers. This year we hope to celebrate this milestone by creating music together with colleagues, friends, and family. Our Traditional Family Christmas concert will feature a brand new commissioned piece featuring all of our Society's choirs. In April, our youth concert will include musicians who have supported and contributed to the success of our youth programs including the Durango Choral Society adult choirs, community members, parents and siblings. This concert will also feature a spiritual arranged by long time DCC Artistic Director Rochelle Mann and colleague Scott Hagler as well as other pieces by guest conductors who have worked with our youth choirs over the years.

As I look into the eyes of our young singers, I am aware that in another fifty years they will be the ones contributing to the art of choral singing in our community. I hope as you celebrate this special season with us, you will be able to hear the future of the Durango Choral Society in our children's voices.
