Greetings,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Durango Choral Society's website and to our Golden 50th Year Anniversary.

The Durango Choral Society is more than just a name:

Durango: Our boundaries extend far beyond our charming little town. Over the years our singers have come from Durango, Cortez, Telluride, and Pagosa Springs in Colorado; Farmington and Santa Fe in New Mexico; and all points in-between. We have collaborated with choirs and ensembles from Albuquerque, Farmington, Santa Fe, and Telluride. Many of our guest artists come to us from all over the country and at times, the world. We have received a prestigious national award, have sung in many areas across Europe, and both our adult and children's choirs have performed in Carnegie Hall in New York City. And now because of the Internet, our music reaches all parts of the world through YouTube.

Choral: Our organization is about more than just beautiful singing. It is also about style, nuances, teamwork, determination, commitment, flexibility, music education, collaboration, integrity, and ethical business practices. It takes all of this together to create beautiful music for you, our audience.

Society: The word 'society' means many things in the dictionary including "a broad grouping of people having common interests." We are a non-profit organization that highlights and expands the talents and creative energy of many individuals to produce our different choirs and soloist musicians to share our music with you. We reach out to all genders, all faiths, all ages; we are inclusive. We have four choirs ranging in ages from 8 to 85. Our Executive Director, Artistic Directors, administrative assistants, accompanists, choral members, and Board of Directors are talented, hardworking, and dedicated individuals. I have heard many times from them that we are family.

I love the Durango Choral Society. We change individual lives for the better, and guide paths in a positive direction one song at a time.
