The Durango Youth Chorus was established in September 2014. Members are drawn from Middle Schools and High Schools in our local community. Students range in age from 12 to 18 years. Members are selected based on their interest in singing choral music. Auditions for vocal placement are conducted in late May and late August of each year.
In addition to participating in concerts with our other choruses, the Youth Chorus periodically conducts community outreach programs for nursing homes, hospitals and local schools. The members of the Youth Chorus also participate in a two-day music camp conducted by Amy Barrett, with occasional direction by guest clinicians.
Annual membership in the DCC is $180 per student (includes folders, music, a DYC T-shirt, and fall camp registration). Scholarships and large family discounts are available based on evaluation of individual circumstances.
