The Fort Lewis College Men’s Choir joins the Durango Women’s Choir for an outstanding array of choral music from all eras, from Brahms to Broadway. All four DCS choirs take the stage for our joyous holiday celebration! You’ll dig our jazz combo’s swingin’ beat, and a variety of music to get your holiday season off to a great start. Our own Gemma Kavanagh will sing O Holy Night, the piece you request most often. Santa Claus will take a break from his busy schedule to stop by and say hi to the kids. The Durango Choral Society, the Durango Women’s Choir and the Telluride Chamber Choir will bring you settings of praise and prayer, including Gloria, Alleluia, and the Psalms, as well as rousing old-time gospel arrangements. Composers will include John William of Star Wars fame, Randall Thompson, and Joseph Haydn. Sing for Joy! A Workshop for Choral Singers

Saturday, April 6 • 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. workshop, followed by lunch • $50 (includes lunch)

This workshop, led by DCS artistic director Dr. Linda Mack Berven, focuses on choral artistry, including blending, listening, diction, and vocal technique in order to help singers use their best solo voices to enhance the choir. Reflections of Freedom

This inspiring concert will feature the Durango Choral Society, the Durango Women’s Choir, and special guests, the Durango Chamber Singers, performing in the beautiful setting of St. Columba Catholic Church. The major work on the program will be American composer Randall Thompson’s stirring, reverent Testament of Freedom, based on the writings of Thomas Jefferson, in addition to shorter sacred works.
